Snow On The Sandias

So I decided to go on a drive today to the foothills to shoot some photos of snow on the mountains. I was a little disappointed because most of the snow from the 2 storms that hit Albuquerque in the last few weeks had melted. For those of you who aren't from New Mexico, a few weeks ago we had record snow fall. It hadn't snowed this much since some time in the 1950's. Santa Fe got about 3 to 4 feet in a day and Albuquerque got over a foot of snow in some places... like the East Mountains.

I was hoping there would be a thick blanket of snow over the Sandias but I guess I waited too long. I suppose water (or snow) doesn't last very long in the desert sun. Well, hope you enjoy these photos none-the-less:

Here is a shot of the Sandia Foothills at sunset. It looks like it's sprinkled in sugar.

Here is a shot of some houses sitting right in the foothills...
...Oh No! Avalanche!! (Just kidding)

  • Duc, These are beautiful shots...I wanted to get some of the mountains too....they looked like a big piece of pastry waiting to be eaten....a strudel?
I took shots of my backyard...wasn't as adventurous as you.

    Love, Bonnie B
